French 20 Franc Gold Angels?

These coins have a history behind them. A neat little story. Truth or just a gimmick? I'm fascinated by the history of coins, the story's and legends behind them. If anyone has a good link or story on any others, I'm happy to listen...

Dunno, but wouldn't pay much over melt. That seems a little high for them.

I can're recall exactly but it seems they usually have them here for several dollars over roosters

My guess is that the stories are probably true but they're using them in a gimmicky way to get a higher price

I personally wouldn't pay the amerigold price - they're somewhat common.

But then I'm primarily interested in bullion.

I buy soveriegns, marks, francs at times - just to keep from getting bored with eagles and rands. Plus they're a pretty good value for incremental ozs of bullion.

PS, the corona 100s at right about spot -at apmex and others are restrikes - They make that a little hard to find out _grin_

yep. they're out of them now. Had some - say six weeks ago.

They probably only have them say 25 to 30 percent of the time -

Along these lines, the only thing that apmex consistently seems to have is the french roosters, soveriegns and the restrike corona's.

Swiss francs, deustch marks, and french angels are somewhat iffy, with the angels being in stock the least.

Amerigold seems to have the angels almost all of the time. However, they charge a higher premium.

If you want to buy old gold coins cheap, buy the british Sovereigns. They are only a little more than krands.

CNI always has the Angels if you really want them.
